I bought my first dslr (Canon) back in 2003 to take photos of my daughter that were not blurry from shutter lag typical of point & shoots, and from that point on I have been bitten by the photo bug. I am out shooting every chance I get. Never having taken any formal photography classes, mine has gone the route of self-learning about photography and the rules of composition, and rule of thirds etc. & looking at other photographers images to determine what it is about the image that I like, and incorporate my findings into my own offerings. The digital era has allowed me to improve by virtue of practice, practice, practice. I can look back now at my first images (and laugh), and see where my eye for composition has improved. I don’t always “take the shot” now when I put the camera to my eye, if I don’t see a shot, I keep looking until I do. A native of Virginia, I grew up just outside of Richmond and a lot of my images have a decidedly Richmond flavor to them. A use the technique of HDR (High Dynamic Range) in a lot of my images especially the Black & Whites, as I gain more tonal range to work with. The technique has both supporters and haters as all styles usually do, I leave it up to you to decide if you like it or not.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at my images.
